As soon as Arohi stepped out of the soldiers’ quarters, she noticed Rekha standing a little distance away, her eyes alert, quietly keeping watch to make sure no one came by.The corridor was dim, lit only by a few flickering oil lamps, and the silence of the night felt heavier than usual. Arohi paused, took a small breath, and called out to Rekha in a soft voice.
